FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Vancouver, Washington, April 30th, 1999 – SDI has announced today the release of version 2.0 of its Windows NT product, sdiStation Basic Edition. sdiStation Basic Edition is currently used by automation professionals worldwide for SECS protocol communications. Basic Edition’s Explorer provides a point&click method for building SECS messages and communication scenarios without resorting to script syntax or program development.

Jack Griffith, SDI Marketing Director states: “Version 2.0 will further enhance the advantage that Basic Edition already enjoys over the competition with our ease of use, higher reliability, and up-to-date technology.”

Version 2.0 of the product contains many enhancements including:

  • SECS communications supporting both SECS-I and HSMS protocol communication. Both protocols can even be used simultaneously when communicating with multiple devices.
  • The ability to transfer very large files through SECS messages useful in such cases as large recipe download or upload.
  • Testing sessions do not require a restart even if protocol parameters, such as timeouts are modified.
  • Integrates the use of ASCII and Binary editors of your choice for SECS data item editing.

sdiStation Basic Edition is part of the sdiStation product family which provides a complete environment for designing, implementing, testing, documenting and maintaining SECS and GEM communication solutions:
